I bought this computer and within 6 months it crashed and would no longer start up. I was told to send to manufacturer and they gave me the wrong address to send it to. I spent 2 weeks trying to find the computer and it ended up finally being shipped back to me. I had to repeat the entire process, had rude people in their service center blaming me for the incorrect address and they offered nothing to ease my frustration.
Buyer beware!

My greatest disappointment is with Samsung. Prior to purchasing this notebook or netbook (still don’t know what to call it) I contacted Samsung support to see if I would be entitled to a free of charge upgrade to Windows 7. They assured me that I would be entitled. I also checked the website and there was a statement there that said “all laptops purchased between specific dates will get the free upgrade” and then some small print. Well, once Oct 22 came along and I tried to get my upgrade Samsung said that my model was not eligible. That is what completely turned me off to this computer after that experience.
Otherwise the product is mediocre at best. The Nano processor seems to run inconsistently. I’m not sure if it’s the connections I get or what. It seems slow to me. I LOVE the keyboard. This is one of the reasons why I chose this computer. However if I had to do it over again I think I may have gotten a smaller 10.1 inch only because I like the portability. I think that if you want something this size you lose the purpose of portibility so might as well get a “real” laptop. But the overall quality is excellent.
I’m just in a bad frame of mind because I feel deceived by their (Samsung) promise of an upgrade and failure to do so. But the product is OK.

When I first received the Samsung NC20 netbook, I was awed by the brilliant design and the awesome battery life. Before purchasing the Samsung NC20, I had been researching for half a year on netbooks. I had to hit the buy button when the this netbook arrived. The Samsung NC20 has a large enough screen and keyboard for typical computer users. Do not expect a powerhouse with this netbook though; the speed on this netbook is very pleasant for me though. After one month of pure happiness with the netbook, the Samsung NC20 decided to bully me. The netbook kept freezing on me for no apparent reason. The tech support for Samsung is horrendous. The only solution the tech guy had for me was to scan my HDD for viruses. Really? Any person would scan for viruses automatically when a problem occurs. Besides for the freezig problem, the Samsung NC20 is a great netbook. I would not recommend this pathetic netbook for you netbook hunter.

Let’s get one thing straight from the start. Samsung touts this netbook as having a “fullsized” keyboard. In the finer print it says it’s a 97 percent fullsized keyboard, a difference that you wouldn’t think is discernible, but it really is. Many professional reviewers have said this netbook’s keyboard is comparable to a regular laptop keyboard. I measured the lettered key rows on my HP Pavillion laptop, and all three of them are a quarter inch shorter on my Samsung NC20. Again, you wouldn’t think that a quarter inch (really just an eighth of an inch difference for each hand if you’re a touch typist) would make that big a difference. I’ve had my unit for two days, and I am starting getting used to it, but what I really wanted was a netbook with a keyboard I wouldn’t have to adjust to. Maybe that’s too much to ask for in today’s netbook. For the record, the keyboard on the NC20 is identical to the one that’s on the Samsung N120, a 10-incher. There’s plenty of room on both sides of the keyboard to make it bigger, and I’m disappointed they didn’t just make it fullsized instead of “fullsized.” If not for the undersized keyboard, this netbook could have been outstanding. The high resolution screen is plenty big enough and gorgeous. Since upgrading the RAM to two gigs, the performance is excellent in my opinion. After removing the McAfee trial (no easy task, had to download a program to remove the trace crap or else I couldn’t use any other AV) I’m running Kaspersky Internet Security (2010 version) and it runs snappy. I got a really good deal on this unit buying directly from [...] (you can save 10 percent by googling “techforless coupon code”). I’ve had no problem watching the Daily Show on Hulu and youtube videos. The speakers are outstanding for a netbook too. Another complaint relating to the keyboard, is the closely spaced tiny arrow keys. When editing word documents, I find myself hitting the page up and page down buttons all the time. Hopefully I’ll get used to the keyboard, but I really wish Samsung had put more thought into the keyboard.
Update on 10/24: Since purchasing this netbook, my 15 inch HP laptop died, so I’ve been using this as my laptop/desktop replacement that last week and a half. Not what I had in mind for this computer. Definitely not what I had in mind when I got this machine, but I have to say it’s served me very well in the interim. The keyboard’s still an issue, but it’s gotten easier. I’ve typed up 800 to 1,000 word documents without much fuss. The processing is adequate, but have had a few freezes. I’d probably bump it up a star becuase it’s been a usable computer for somewhat extended use, and I’d be in trouble if I hadn’t bought it. Still, would like a bigger keyboard.

I bought this computer based on a review in WIRED magazine. It turned out to be an excellent purchase.
