My college requires you to buy a laptop through them when you enroll, and of course they use Dell. The Latitude D630 is a pretty decent machine; the problem I have with it is the longevity of the battery (can only speak for the 9 cell). After 6-8 months of daily usage, you should plan on the battery not holding a charge for more than 30-40 minutes or it wont charge at all. The most unfortunate part of this has been that Dell admits this is an issue, yet is anything but cooperative when trying to get it replaced! Don’t buy a dell, get a Mac.

I received this battery on time. the life is on par with the dell branded 6 cell battery only. this is not such a big deal considering its so cheap, however the battery i received has a large bulge at the bottom. other than that it is identical to the dell branded 9 cell battery. this bulge is kind of obnoxious because it doesn’t allow the battery to create a seal with the computer.

This battery was a fraction of the price of a replacement through Dell. I have used it for over 3 months now and it is providing between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 hours of life depending on the screen brightness used and what programs I am using. I recommend “conditioning” the battery by running it completely down 2 or three times when you first get it and then every 2 or 3 weeks thereafter.

I bought this product knowing that I would be going on a vacation and needed a new battery. Mine from Dell was already 2 years old and I found out from a previous road trip it wouldn’t even start up on battery power anymore. So I saw the expensive Dell one and figured they’re probably all the same, so I decided to save money and get this one. Typically I keep my laptop connected to a docking station at home 95% of the time, so it basically never uses the battery power. This may or may not be my real issue with going through these batteries quickly, but from a consumer standpoint, this is completely pitiful. I would pull it off the docking station to use it and it won’t even flicker to life. So anyway, 1 month before the vacation I installed this battery. It worked fine for the time before the vacation and I tested it and it lasted about 4 hours. So I took it on the plane for vacation, ready to watch some DVDs and it got through the startup process and we were able to start the DVD but it only lasted about 20 seconds before it just shut down completely and it wouldn’t start up again. So what is the point of having the laptop again? So I can always be plugged into an outlet? Riiiiiiiiiigggght. Anyway, less then 5 months into it, the battery won’t take a charge at all again. Not worth the postage to send it back!

In search of a 9-cell extended laptop battery for my Dell D630, which I recently purchased refurbished and already power starved, was quick and easy. Now I freely roam my house for hours. Do note, an extended battery does have a larger footprint than the OEM standard battery for this model. However, the larger size does nestle in comfortably off the front edge with no interference to wrist placement. A good deal and quickly delivered.
