This device is not a Battery, is just a CONNECTOR. Never charges the Laptop, always shows 98% charged, but once the Laptop is unplugged, then it SHUT DOWN immediatly. This is not fair for the price paid as original (double that the alternatives).

When I saw this item, the main board seller was “Smart Parts USA”, not Westronics.
Thus my review only applies to my purchase from “Smart Parts USA”.
I placed an order 3 days ago (Tues nite), expedited, and it arrived today (Fri Apr 9 2009) so I’m pretty happy.

Why I got this item:
I was looking for a “Genuine Dell” battery. My last one lasted about 3 yrs, no complaints.
When I saw on the main product page “It is supported by Dell Technical Support when used with a Dell system. This product comes with 1 year limited warranty. …” I was totally sold, especially since a new battery direct from Dell would cost $155.90 before tax.
There was a comparable item, “Dell Inspiron E1505 1501 E 1505 6400 Kd476 Battery” which was advertised as genuine as well, and cheaper by around $5. However a previous customer said it was made in China, and more importantly, it did not mention anything about warranty by Dell so I wasn’t willing to take the risk.

Experiences with this item:
My battery arrived today.
1st happy thing: Battery said “Made in Japan”!
Also there was a small note on the box to warn me that a serial number sticker could be covering the Dell logo, to prevent fraud at sorting facilities. Weird, but true enough, there was a serial number sticker which, when removed, revealed Dell.
It looked like an exact copy of my old Dell battery, just that the instructions were printed upside down when comparing the two. (Just turn the batteries upside down and the instructions and placement of instructions would be identical.)
At this point it looks exactly like my original, genuine made-in-Japan Dell battery so I’m inclined to believe it is in fact genuine.
I was a little worried this E1505 battery wouldn’t fit my Inspiron 6400 even though both battery parts were the same – KD476. True enough, it was a little tight going in, and compared to my old battery, the smooth symmetry of the lines are disrupted. But it’s on the bottom and can’t be seen, and more importantly, after plugging it in it works totally!
I tried plugging my charger to it, the charge did go up!
Thus I’m happy because I have also avoided some other common complaints about charger not recognizing the battery, or not being able to charge the battery.
I’m still running it down.
I’ll update this review again in the near future if I have any problems with the battery and have to go back to the vendor.
For now, I’m totally sold, and totally happy.

good service – and the battery was actually a “Dell” battery as advertised !! – took too long to receive but was within the time advertised.

Battery is fantastic and my computer runs for well over two hours on a charge.

Great battery, great price, couldn’t ask for any more. The battery is an Dell OEM battery. The laptop runs like new now.
