Asus is shipping this unit with Windows 7, but unfortunately, they have NOT fully developed the drivers. That’s bad.
The graphics drivers on the other Asus EEE PC’s allow you to use a secondary monitor in extended desktop mode. With the 1005PE, you cannot do this.
Even if you want to just plug in a desktop monitor, the MAXIMUM resolution is 1024 by 768. Not much help on a monitor that goes 1600 by 900.
Just another Windows debacle. Too bad Asus got sucked into it.

This is a great machine, but I can’t give it high marks as long as it’s only available with Windows, with no refund option, then they can eat this.
ASUS was great a few years ago, but then obviously Microsoft started bribing them. Now ASUS is no longer an interesting machine.
Of course, it’s an excellent machine to run Linux on, but… why the heck one has to pay for an OS one is not going to use at all?
This insane Microsoft monopoly has to stop!

Tried upgrading the ram with the crucial upgrade as suggested on here. same blank screens of death when restarted, skype is laggy as ever and its generally just slow. Considering sending it back for warranty claim. Plugged battery in today and the screen went haywire and I had to restart it. shouldnt be having problems like this with a “new” computer… Replaced RAM, ALL GOOD!!! Lovely lil netbook couldnt be happier.
